  • Man who stole iPhones from wireless store caught by his own smartphone
    A thief who broke into an wireless phone store in Springfield, VA and made off with a number of iPhones was apprehended shortly after the robbery because he had left behind his own personal phone — a Samsung Galaxy — in the store. Travis Montgomery Snyder, 25, was arrested after police found the phone and tracked him down using his personal information stored there after obtainin a search warrant.

    A widely-used processor benchmark has been revised, allowing an ARM-based Samsung processor to gain on an Intel x86 chip.

    eBay has released a new iOS app that gives users the ability to customize select 3D printed products. The app provides users with a list of items that can be customized, including iPhone cases, jewelry, and figurines, and all of the tools needed to customize them. With each product users can also choose from a variety of materials to be used in the products creation, while the engraving feature allows for further customization. eBay Exact can be downloaded from the App Store at no cost.

  • Apple Store down for hours worldwide, no big changes
    The online Apple Store went offline worldwide for almost five hours beginning just after midnight (ET) on Friday until nearly 5AM ET. The long downtime, just slightly above average for a significant store downtime event, is sometimes indicative of a product refresh or addition, though in this case it appears to have been for minor site update to emphasize the current "Back to School" gift card and accessories promotion. No new or refreshed product turned up, though the last time the store was down for such an xtended period was for five hours on June 10, adding the latest MacBook Air models.
